Dr. Stephanie Carter wrote the book that did not exist. She entered the United States military at seventeen, the first in her family to do the split option program that young, and spent the next three decades inside some of the most classified, high-stakes, and male-coded professional environments in the country. She managed encryption and communications security at various duty stations. She holds a Doctor of Computer Science and the certifications that mark the highest tier of her field — CISSP, CISM, CRISC, and CISA.
Today, Dr. Carter is the creator of the Build New Rooms Method™, a one-year, whole-person mentorship framework for women in cybersecurity, built on six pillars and grounded in the five principles of B.U.I.L.D. — Believe, Unhide, Invest, Lead, Deploy. She is also the architect of the A.C.C.E.P.T. career development framework, an evidence-based system for professional ascension.
She is a longtime professor at the University of Maryland Global Campus and consults on cybersecurity engagements across federal and corporate environments. She stars in the Women in Security Documentary, which has toured nationally and internationally and streams on Amazon Prime. She is also the chair of the Talbot County Rural Development Foundation, where she pours back into the communities that shaped her, because the rooms we build for ourselves were always meant to shelter someone else.
